Baby Swing Club covers products parents use with infants, so we hold our content to a higher bar than a typical gear blog. This page explains exactly how we research, score, source our safety guidance, stay independent, and correct mistakes.
Who writes this site
Every review and buying guide is written by Marcus Reid, the site’s founder — a parent of two who has spent hundreds of hours with powered swings, rockers and bouncers across real homes and real babies. Content reflects hands-on use plus documented specifications, not rewritten marketing copy.
How we research & test
- Hands-on use wherever possible — how the motion feels, how loud the motor is, how a baby actually settles, and the quirks that only appear after a few weeks.
- Specification verification — weight and age limits, motions, speeds, power source, recline and foldability are checked against manufacturer documentation, not assumed.
- Verified owner feedback — we read through real purchaser reviews to catch durability and reliability patterns a single test can miss.
- No fabrication — we never invent prices, specs or ratings. Prices are shown as tiers ($ / $$ / $$$) because real prices change daily. Where a detail can’t be confirmed, we say so rather than guess.
How we score
Picks are ranked on a fixed, weighted rubric applied identically to every swing — never on affiliate commission:
Safety & medical sourcing
Because swing safety is a health-sensitive topic, the safety guidance on this site is drawn from and cross-checked against primary, authoritative sources:
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) — safe-sleep guidance, including that inclined products and swings are not for routine sleep.
- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) — recalls and warnings, including the October 2024 Fisher-Price Snuga infant-swing recall, and the Safe Sleep for Babies Act.
- ASTM F2088 — the infant-swing safety standard we check products against.
- Manufacturer documentation — for weight/age limits, recline ranges and intended use.
Expert review
We are committed to having our safety-critical content reviewed by a qualified pediatric or child-health professional. We are actively seeking a credentialed reviewer, and when one joins we will publish their name and qualifications here and on the articles they review. Until then, we rely on the primary AAP, CPSC and ASTM sources above and label our content as general information rather than medical advice. If you are a qualified professional interested in reviewing our content, please get in touch.
Independence & affiliate disclosure
Baby Swing Club is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you, but commissions never influence rankings or scores — a cheaper swing that scores better ranks higher. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections & freshness
We re-verify prices, availability and recall status on a recurring basis and stamp each guide with the date it was last updated. If you spot an error — a changed spec, a price tier that’s drifted, or a safety detail we should add — please tell us and we’ll correct it promptly.
